I loved all five issues.Soulfire-DOTL#1 was my first introduction to all of these great characters and to the Aspen world in itslef.I have been out of the comic realm loop for some time until this last fall only to come back to some really refreshing artists'( as well as some old favs) and great new story lines.Loving it all.Topnotch work guys.I have to say,though,that I'm a little confused with the timeline of things here in the story.Does Soulfire-DOTL take place way before what is happening in the current ongoing Soulfire series or way after?It would seem to me,that it was the beginning of the end for the past,if that makes any sense.But then after reading the first issue of the regular Soulfire isssue #1(or was it #0.I'd have to go back and look at it.)it just threw me for a loop as to what was actually going on.Well I think that may be part of marketing strategy of Turner and group to keep us coming back for more.It's work on me 'cuz I'm still buying.L8r.

I really enjoyed it... It was a readlly good read both visualy and script... congrats to the creative team and Aspen as a whole. really putting out good product...

I don't understand the end. From all appearances (in the main series), Grace was not one of those who lost her wings (or her magic). How did she get them back?
Mooncrest did not turn on Grace. He was being controlled by Rainer. He was not acting of his own free will.
As explained in the main series, there is a cycle to the power of magic. It swings up and swings down again. This series is about the downswing.
The only reason Rainer wanted power is because other people had it. But then again, it's fairly difficult to psycho-analyze megalomaniacs.

Grace did loose her wings. Theres a giant time gap between DOTL and Soulfire Volume 1. Magic is just starting to return in Soulfire Volume 1, so it's likely her wings re-emerged more recently.

thanks paul, and everyone else that commented! i hope i continue to get better:) i think i'm making taking some new strides with shrugged, so hopefully all of you that liked DOTL will pick it up!

Grace's wings will probably be answered in an up-comming mini series. I sucked to see her like that, considering my love for Grace. It was a very good series and I loved how it was done & the artwork was great!!!

Grace gets her wings back after "Dying of the Light" but before "Soulfire Beginnings". Something has to happen in between there.

chaos reign (the new miniseries) is set before "dying of the light".
so... maybe, but not likely
