Hi everyone

I'm Tim from merry old England.

I first came across Michael Turner's work when I was about 12 back in about '99. I was reading the Tomb Raider comic put out by Top Cow, and was looking at the other TC stuff and found Fathom. Unfortunately, it looked quite established and as a 12 year old I didnt have much money and what I did went on sweets.

I'm now 25 and Fathom recently popped into my head so I checked ebay. I narrowly missed out on a collection by some bastard that outbidded me in the last 10 seconds on all 3 auctions.

However, I found someone selling mint TC labelled fathom comics with BIN so snapped them up.

This sorta feels weird... hi... now i am not new but at the same time i have been away for a few years... kinda glad my account was not deactivated.

my name is Ariel for those who may not know me, and for those who do - its gem

i am not sure why i am here, maybe its nostalgia or maybe its just being curious to come back home? this was my first love of the internet - past art, part emails past porn ;) lol jk- i came here because of Michael Turner and the growing community/company that is now known as Aspen. i was there almost when this boards were started, shut down, restarted and the war. i left the boards in misdirected anger, confusion and fear..

I was in Chicago, the day we heard about Michael. it was hard to accept that he was gone - i miss him, his art and his kindness. i am glad to have met him and believed i believed in his visions, for art and where he wanted to take his company. perhaps that is what drew me back here. i miss those times and some of the people i had known to call friends.

i maybe seeking closure? or a new beginning.. at times i felt lost but being away for such a long time also made me grow up and grow more as a person. i have been selfish and childish back in the day which probably lead to a lot of feuds here - maybe i didnt get the jokes or they didnt get mine? i do want to say that its in the past however it is part of me and what contributed to my journey.

this is getting longer than what i wanted to say but at the same time - i have soo much to say. i kept in touch with a few of you and some i heard from once and a while. some have probably married by now, kids? and some have maybe even grown up. maybe its time for me to try and find my way back here? or that i am rambling again.. i just want to say hi .. i missed this place and i missed the people in it..

lets catch up?

@P - dont worry no gembeers, no immaturity and nothing taking tooo seriously

anyways if anything i will be around from time to time - maybe find you all again - i would like to hear what you have been up to :) i am not expecting an overnight acceptance of me nor find a lot of my old friends the same as they were before. i am looking for a new start? and maybe u can find me in the middle.

all the best for now

-Gem

Hello everyone,

Late to the party as usual, I just "discovered" Lady Mechanika a few weeks ago at my local comic shop and bout all the (fourth printing) issues they had. When I went to check out Jim warned me that it'd more than likely be a while before the next issue came out but I'm ok with that. I was totally drawn in by both the art and story and was blown away by it. I hope to delightfully find more of Aspen's treasures and thank you all for having me.
